Photo William G. Braun III ("Trey") is a Professor of Practice with the Strategic Studies Institute, U.S. Army War College. Professor Braun’s research agenda includes national strategy and policy analysis, land force employment, military leadership and civil-military relations. He last deployed, while on active duty, as Director, CJ-7 (Force Integration, Training, and Education Directorate), Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan (CSTC-A). His 30-year professional military career included tactical aviation and planner assignments with the 101st Division (Airborne), 2d Infantry Division, the 82d Infantry Division, XVIII Airborne Corps and Command of an Aviation Battalion at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras. His force management assignments include multiple tours on the Army staff, TRADOC, and the US Army Recruiting Command. Professor Braun holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Alfred University and Masters Degrees from the U.S. Army War College, School of Advanced Military Science (SAMS), and Webster University.
