Dr. J. Boone Bartholomees, Jr., is Professor of Military History in the Department of National Security and Strategy at the U.S. Army War College. He is the former course director for the core course Theory of War and Strategy and a former holder of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Chair of National Security Studies. He is a retired Army colonel and the author of Buff Facings and Gilt Buttons: Headquarters and Staff Operations in the Army of Northern Virginia, 1861-1865. He edited The U.S. Army War College Guide to National Security Policy and Strategy, 2004; and the 2nd Ed., 2006; and The U.S. Army War College Guide to National Security Issues editions in 2008 and 2010.Dr. Bartholomees received his Ph.D. from Duke University in 1978.
